Christa Haas Bierma serves as Associate Benefits Tax Counsel at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where she provides legal and policy guidance on employee benefits and executive compensation matters. Her work focuses on the interpretation and implementation of tax provisions governing retirement, health and welfare benefit plans, fringe benefits, and employment tax.

Before joining the Treasury Department in 2025, Christa was a principal at Ernst & Young, where she advised employers on various issues arising with respect to taxation of compensation and benefits. She is currently on her second tour of duty at the Treasury Department, having previously served as an attorney-advisor in the Office of Benefits Tax Counsel.
