James M. Nelson

As a shareholder and chair of Greenberg Traurig's Employee Benefits and Labor and Employment practice groups in Sacramento and co-chair of the Labor and Employment practice group in Phoenix, Mr. Nelson practices labor and ERISA law in Arizona, California and the state of Washington. Mr. Nelson also serves as a mediator and Early Neutral Evaluator both privately and for the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California. He represents employers and ERISA plan fiduciaries in matters concerning both traditional labor and employment matters and ERISA compliance both as to litigation and advice/counsel issues. His experience includes complex litigation and appeals.

Mr. Nelson is very active in both the regional and national labor & employment and ERISA practice. He co-chairs the health and welfare benefits sub-committee of the ABA Labor Section’s Employee Benefits Committee. He is a Fellow and Member of the Board of Governors of The American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, a Fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and The American Bar Foundation, and is an Adjunct Professor of The John Marshall Law School, LLM in Employee Benefits degree program.

Mr. Nelson received his J.D. from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law and received his B.A. from the University of Arizona.
