Karen L. Handorf

Karen Handorf joined Cohen Milstein Sellers and Toll PLLC in April 2007 as Of Counsel and is a member of the Employee Benefits (ERISA) practice group. At the firm, she has represented plan participants in district court and appellate cases involving a wide range of issues, including retiree healthcare, employer stock, ESOPs, benefit claims and remedies. Prior to joining the law firm, Ms. Handorf worked in the Plan Benefits Security Division, Office of the Solicitor, U.S. Department of Labor where she served as Deputy Associate Solicitor, Counsel for Appellate and Amicus Litigation, and trial attorney. While at the Department, she was responsible for establishing and supervising the Department's amicus brief writing program through which the Department expressed its views on novel and difficult ERISA issues in private litigation. She is the Plaintiff Co-Chair of the Subcommittee on Civil Practice and Procedure of the ABA's Employee Benefits Committee. Ms. Handorf received her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School and is a member of the Wisconsin and District of Columbia bars.
