Roger Siske

Roger Siske, age 61, a Charter Fellow of the College passed away on January 4, 2006.

A proud graduate of the University of Michigan Law School (magna cum laude), Roger Siske was with Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP in Chicago his entire career. He had a wide-ranging practice and served a leadership role in the firm. As a nationally recognized leader in the employee benefits, he was one of the first to recognize executive compensation as a substantive practice area. Roger was a frequent lecturer on numerous subjects in the field, for organizations such as the ABA, ALI-ABA, PLI, Northwestern University School of Law Corporate Counsel Institute, and the New York University Tax Institute. He was an adjunct professor in the Masters in Tax program at IIT/Chicago-Kent School of Law. He chaired the Employee Benefits Committees of both the ABA Tax Section (1990-91) and the ABA Business Law Section. He also chaired the JCEB, the Illinois State Bar Association Employee Benefits Section Council, and the Chicago Bar Association Employee Benefits Committee.

Roger is best remembered for his fierce intellect, the breadth and depth of his mastery (starting when ERISA was just a bill wending its way through Congress), his dominance in the field, and the many personal kindnesses he extended to clients and colleagues.

Roger was the beloved husband of Regina, nee Markunas; loving father of Kelly (Robert) Dunworth, Jennifer (David) Todd and Kimberly; dear brother of Jim (Denise) of Dublin, OH; devoted son of Helen and the late Lester.
