Upon graduating law school over thirty years ago, I interviewed exclusively for ERISA positions. The reaction of my colleagues was: “The final regs are out. There is nothing left to do...it’s a dead-end job.” As we well know, the rest is history. Over the years I have worked in almost every area of law impacted by employee benefits and have witnessed ERISA’s impact on the profitability of my clients and the financial security of their employees. I’ve practiced the last ten years with Alston & Bird LLP, formerly Walter, Conston, Alexander & Green LLC and before that Alexander and Green, a firm dating back to 1843. As President of the NY Chapter of WEB, I worked to increase educational and networking opportunities for the NYC benefits community. I traveled, as a member of the International Section of the NYSBA, to many parts of the world to encourage cooperation between legal communities. As a member of the International Benefits Committee of the National Foreign Trade Counsel, I continue to assist global companies to address the needs of their employees abroad. It is an honor to serve with a community of attorneys who educate others in the significance of employee benefits and their impact on the future of our country and the security of our citizens.
