Tami Simon

Named one of the 25 Most Influential Women in Benefit Consulting by Employee Benefit Adviser, Tami Simon is a nationally recognized business and thought leader in employee benefits.

She is currently a senior executive at Buck, a leading HR and employee benefits consulting firm. Beginning in October, Tami will become Segal Consulting's new global corporate business leader, servicing Segal's corporate clients across all geographies and practice areas. Segal is one of the country's premiere full-service HR and employee benefits consulting firms.

While with Buck, Tami successfully transformed two businesses. The Knowledge Resource Center – which is the firm’s national cross practice legal compliance, thought leadership, data analytics and survey team – went from being a cost center in 2012 to a growing profit center within 2 years. From 2013-2016, Tami also led the Career Practice (consisting of compensation consulting, talent management, and management consulting), improving profitability by over 70%. Tami has also served as the firm's offerings strategy leader, and collaborated on firm-wide M&A projects, corporate operations, marketing, PR, risk management, finance and sales initiatives.

Throughout her career, Tami has remained rooted in her employee benefits subject matter expertise, namely health & welfare benefits and HR strategy. Tami has testified before the US Congress and Federal Government agencies, and is a highly sought-after public speaker presenting for organizations including Harvard Business School, American Law Institute, American Benefits Council, ERISA Industry Committee, Society for Human Resource Management, International Foundation on Employee Benefits, and the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists. Tami has authored numerous articles in nationally recognized industry publications such as the Benefits Law Journal, Employee Relations Law Journal and Employee Benefits Journal and has been quoted by leading news outlets including the Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, Business Week, CFO Magazine, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, MSN Money, US News & World Report, Washington Business Journal, and Yahoo Finance.

Tami is on the board of directors for the Employee Benefits Research Institute (EBRI), American Benefits Council (ABC), Health Enhancement Research Organization (HERO), and Emeriti Retirement Health Solutions, and on the advisory board of the ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC).

Before joining Buck, Tami worked for Mercer, the law firm of McDermott, Will & Emery, Hewitt Associates and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office; she also served as a judicial intern for the Iowa District Court. Tami received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign and her law degree, with distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law, where she was an editor of the Law Review. She is a member of the Illinois Bar.
